Art in your Child's Education; Resources for Homeschoolers (G) -- The Arts can bring a tangible dimension to your curriculum. In history, Art and Music can fill-out the cultural gaps that a straight forward History program might leave. In English, illustration can help students create a story and aid in telling a story. Art can also help a child master the fine motor skills necessary to learn to write.
Sometimes though, our students are particularly interested or skilled in Art, what then? I will offer resources for busy homeschoolers to further their children's interest in visual art. (Top)

Why Homeschool Sports is an Essential Part of a Well-Trained Education (G) -- More than 1,000 travel sports coaches were recently asked what lesson they felt was most important to teach their athletes. Among their answers were hard work, integrity, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Winning was not mentioned at all. Unfortunately, many of these coaches have found themselves regarded as highly influential counselors for all manner of non-sports issues as well, such as problems with friends, schoolwork, or family issues.
Fortunately for us homeschool coaches, most of our players come to us fairly grounded in family values and respect of authority so that we don't have to be counselors, but can instead focus on training and education that will be agreeable to Mom's and Dad's homeschooling plans.
Some of the topics we will be discussing in this session include:
- Homeschool athletics is a good tool for "real" socialization.
- You can spot a homeschool team a mile away
- Competition is a life lesson that we don't run away from
- Biblical sport analogies and lessons
- Analysis of the first 20 years of homeschool athletics
- What athletics is teaching the homeschool athlete
- Who is the homeschool athlete teaching now?
- Educations means training and guess what, athletes train!
- When the athlete and principal collide
- Preparedness for College, Missions, Military, Workforce, Family, and Business (Top)
