Vicky Pattison's make-up collab and Kylie Minogue's new vegan perfume – the new beauty drops YOU need to know this month
Apparently, in case you’ve not heard, side partings are “cheugy” – AKA uncool.
That’s according to my Gen Z sister and the rest of the TikTok tastemakers. They’re not the only ones to think so – middle partings took A/W ’21 catwalks by storm.
Sleek, blunt bobs accompanied the neat middle-parts at Chanel, at Jason Wu they were slicked back into low ponies, while messy waves made the perfect combo at Victoria Beckham.
There's no denying the symmetry of a middle parting is effortless and elegant, but my hair naturally falls slightly to the left, so I’m going to have to remain uncool on this one – sorry, sis!
What else is new this month? You’d be forgiven for thinking it’s too late in the year for a new brand to launch, but you’d be wrong!
- Pacifica Vegan Collagen Mascara, £20 – buy here
Fresh from the US, vegan line Pacifica launched exclusively at Cultbeauty.co.uk last week and I’m already hooked on Pacifica Vegan Collagen Mascara, £20. I’m notoriously picky when it comes to mascara (sensitive eyes and oily lids are a troublesome combination), but I have been impressed with the volumising wand and conditioning formula, which doesn’t leave lashes crispy. Plus, the range also includes body lotions infused with arnica, perfect for anyone bruise prone like me!
- Athletia Aroma Wrapping Hand Cream in Feel At Ease, £24 – buy here
Meanwhile, sustainable brand Athletia is focused on natural ingredients and botanical extracts that benefit the skin, body and mind – perfect for a party-season pamper. Packed with hydrating squalene, jojoba oil and shea butter, Athletia Aroma Wrapping Hand Cream in Feel At Ease , £24, has become my go-to, thanks to the calming geranium, bergamot and patchouli scent.
- RoC Multi Correxion Revive + Glow Gel Cleanser, £13.49 – buy here
The first high-street skincare label to make effective retinol available in over-the-counter products decades ago, French pharma brand RoC is back on British soil after disappearing in the Noughties. Anti-ageing is still its mainstay, but I’m obsessed with the latest launch to accompany the comeback – RoC Multi Correxion Revive + Glow Gel Cleanser, £13.49, a brightening, vitamin-C-packed gel that leaves my face feeling refreshed.
- Kylie Minogue Darling EDP, £17.99 for 75ml – buy here
Talking of comebacks, I have to mention the return of Kylie Minogue Darling, £22 for 30ml EDP. The pop icon’s relaunched the signature scent 15 years on from its debut with the same timeless, floral notes, but now vegan.
- Barry M No Filter Eyeshadow Palette, £24.99 – buy here
Finally, my favourite Geordie girl-next-door Vicky Pattison has teamed up with make-up artist Lo Dias and beauty brand Barry M to launch a capsule line called No Filter, which includes an unbeatable, 35-pan eyeshadow palette, Barry M No Filter Eyeshadow Palette, £24.99. I heart!

How come, even when I moisturise my legs, I still get “leg dandruff” in tights-wearing season? Help! Mollie, Hertford
First, avoid soaps and shower gels that leave your skin tight and strip it of moisture – instead, look for hydrating oil washes like The Body Shop Spa Of The World Tahitian Tiaré Bath & Shower Oil-In-Gel , £7. To stop skin flaking, Ren Clean Skincare AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum , £35, exfoliates and nourishes. Apply Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil, £5.39, after bathing – it absorbs quickly and helps skin stay moisturised all day long. Tracey McAlpine @fightingfifty
