Amanda Owen, 48, was devastated by the loss of Kate, just over a year after the much-loved family dog had suffered a miscarriage. Amanda, whose Channel 5 show Our Yorkshire Farm has recently been cancelled, spent the weekend “laughing and crying” as she recalled memories of the pup who grew up to become a part of their family.
“A weekend of recounting dog stories. Looking back through a gallery that catalogues Kate’s life,” Amanda took to Twitter to write.
“We’ve laughed & cried. Unreal that only a week ago she was centre stage. Working quietly & then watching over children as they played,” she lamented sadly.
Mourning the loss of their canine friend, Amanda signed off: “Kate, you rocked..& rolled. Rest now.” (sic)
Through the photos she attached to the post, followers were able to receive an insight into the life she shares with her nine children on the farm.

In one photo, three members of the family roll ecstatically down a hill in the breathtakingly beautiful Yorkshire Dales, only for the ever-protective Kate to stand as sentinel nearby, watching over them happily.
In another, she snoozes peacefully in the sun, while in others the incredibly photogenic dog simply poses for the camera.
Amanda’s first heartbreak surrounding Kate came in 2021, when she miscarried a pup on exactly the same day that Prince Philip died.
The grieving animal lover wrote on Twitter at the time: “There’s so much sadness today & I don’t like to add to it, but sadly I must share the news that sheepdog Kate’s pup was stillborn. It just wasn’t to be.”
Now it is Kate herself that the family has been mourning – and many of her followers have shared that sense of grief.
She was such a huge part of farm life that when she had a period of absence from family photos, fans would write via social media to ask if she was okay.
@MothTrapper48 was one of more than 3,000 followers who liked her latest post about Kate, writing: “However long a dog’s life is, it’s never long enough from our point of view.”
He added: “If only their life-spans could parallel ours, the world would be a much better place.”

“That photo of the dog with the shepherd shadow is a superb piece of art and heart wrenching at the same time,” chimed in @TDCDTtweets as she marvelled over the montage of pictures.
Meanwhile, @JanetMc31233175 agreed: “With all the lovely photos you posted of Kate, I don’t think any of us will ever forget her.”
Grief-stricken Amanda had earlier described her feelings as “the other kind of mourning” after Kate’s death.
Her only consolation had been that the 12-year-old sheepdog’s death seemed to have been peaceful and painless while she was sleeping.
She told her 530,000 followers at the time: “You go to get your faithful workmate, companion, colleague & friend from her kennel, only to find that she has passed away in her sleep. Kate…. that’ll do.”
That’s not only the major change to happen in the life of Amanda, who – together with then husband Clive – had previously been dubbed the “Kardashians of the countryside”.
She and Clive are no longer together and their series has been axed, while their eldest son Reuben is joining his dad on a new show that will document their digging business venture.
However, Channel 5 bosses recently promised that fans likely hadn’t seen the last of Amanda, saying they “remain wholly committed” to the entire family and hope to film new projects with her soon.
