Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen, 47, gave fans a glimpse into life on the farm as she revealed that she had some sweet news to share with them. Speaking to her 188,300  Twitter followers, she revealed that family had welcomed a calf for the New Year.

Amanda tweeted: “Buttercup the house cow has calved.

“She’s a quiet, docile and very greedy dairy shorthorn that will provide enough milk for her calf and her household,” she added, with milk emojis.

The shepherdess also attached some photographs below to give her followers a glimpse into the calving process.

Two of the Owen children were wrapped up warm in their hats and coats to help Amanda deliver the calf.

The snowy Yorkshire hills could be seen behind them, demonstrating what a cold night it must have been to birth the adorable calf.

Amanda’s followers took to the comments section where they expressed their delight at the news.

“That’s lovely news well done Buttercup,” commented Glenda Shaw. (sic)

“That’s wonderful. The girls look so thrilled,” added Helen Buckenham.

Earlier today, Amanda shared a number of sweet snaps showing her children preparing to go back to school.

Posting some pictures beside her daughter Clem in their snowy field surrounded by sheep, Amanda wrote: “On the face of it a quiet, cold frozen wintery scene.

“On the face of Clem, a pained expression when reminded that school beckons.”

A few hours later she posted another picture of her many children preparing to embark on a new term at school, while their pony, Tony, attempted to shake off the snow from his coat.

“Back to school. All in good spirits. Meanwhile Tony… Shake it off, shake it off,” she wrote jokingly in reference to the popular Taylor Swift song.
