GMB’s Richard Madeley recalls terrifying moment he saw a ghost in his house

Richard Madeley, 65, recalled the moment he saw what he thought to be a ghost in his home on Monday’s Good Morning Britain, 25 October.

Discussing the haunting moment with his GMB co-star Ranvir Singh and guests Richard "Dick" McCourt and Dominic "Dom" Wood, he said the encounter happened this summer.

Richard and Dominic, AKA former hosts of hit CBBC show Dick and Dom in da Bungalow, have recently taken part in Celebrity Ghost Trip, sparking the conversation of people’s own paranormal experiences.

Explaining his story, Richard said: “I was sitting in the garden in the summer having a little doze after doing the morning show.

"I woke up, everything was fine, I was looking at the paper and I just had the instinct to look up at the window that overlooks our garden from our house."

“In the window in the top floor of the house was a white face looking down at me," Richard continued. "It was just staring at me and I thought, oh my god we’ve got an intruder, so I went in and checked that Judy was on the ground floor – which she was – I went upstairs, and there was nobody there.”

Richard went on to insist that he “definitely saw a face” looking at him, and described it as “very pale and unmoving”.

He then proceeded to ask Dick and Dom if they thought he’d seen a ghost to which Dick replied, “If you’ve experienced it, then you do believe in it.”

Celebrity Ghost Trip is a spooky spin-off of E4 show Coach Trip, and the first episode aired last night, 24 October.

The new five-part series will see a group of celebrity pairings travel around the UK to some of the spookiest locations imaginable.

Joining Dick and Dom is Kerry Katona and daughter Lilly McFadden, Too Hot To Handle’s Chloe Veitch and Nicole O’Brien, Ibiza Weekender reps David Potts and Callum Izzard and rapper Graft who’s paired up with Sian Gabbidon.

Dick claims to believe in ghosts, while Dom insists he doesn’t. Dick said: “I’ve always believed in ghosts, Dom doesn’t! So, what better way to settle this argument than by going round the UK, being utterly terrified with a bunch of other celebs on Celeb Ghost Trip! We love coach trips anyway so this will be double the madness for this double act!"

Dom added: “I studied Harry Houdini for years who spent the last part of his career debunking fake psychics and spirt mediums so I’m looking to be proved wrong, get scared and scream like a pig! Can’t wait to be in a real haunted castle, mansion… or bungalow!"

The second episode of Celebrity Ghost Trip airs on E4 tonight at 10pm.
