Katya Jones, 31, has become a firm favourite on Strictly Come Dancing after she made her debut on the BBC programme in 2016. The Russian-born performer had teamed up with her Strictly co-stars Janette Manrara, 36, and Nadiya Bychkova, 30, for their dance tour Viva La Divas only for the three of them to be dealt devastating news earlier this year.

The trio had previously announced their tour details in January but following the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, the dancers have been forced to cancel their tour.

Katya revealed she is unsure when the show will resume and admitted she is saddened by the show’s postponement.

It comes after the UK Government has enforced a nationwide closure of indoor theatres.

The Strictly star commented: “Everybody has gone through the same thing and we’re all in the same position.

“Of course it’s sad and all of the theatres have suffered so much.”

The ballroom champion admitted she is “desperate” to get back to performing on their dance tour and was looking forward to reuniting with her Strictly co-stars.

“We all desperately want to be back so hopefully it will be possible and we will see what happens,” Katya remarked.

“I was really looking forward to it with three of my Strictly friends with the ladies. It would have been amazing.”

I personally was REALLY looking forward to this project! Look at these gorgeous women! ‍♀️ But with a heavy heart, sadly the Viva La Diva tour dates will be cancelled due to the pandemic and social distancing rules currently in place, which is very understandable. I hope we can make it work and come back in the near future, in the meantime please contact your local box office and agent for a refund. LOVE YOU GIRLS! @jmanrara @nadiyabychkova #vivaladivas #tour #dance

Her comments come after the professional dancer previously took to Instagram and shared the news that the Viva La Diva tour dates had been cancelled.

Sharing a snap alongside her pals Janette and Nadiya, Katya penned a heartfelt apology in view of her 159,000 followers.

She wrote: “I personally was REALLY looking forward to this project! Look at these gorgeous women!

Fans flocked to comment on their disappointment of the news at the time, as one person said: “Sad but necessary… Will be a super glam treat when you can do it.”

“Totally understand ladies. I really hope you can reschedule,” another fan commented.

While a third person added: “Gutted absolutely gutted. Hope they reschedule soon.”

Elsewhere, Katya also opened up about her relationship with former husband and Strictly co-star Neil Jones amid her latest venture during lockdown.

The former couple split 10 months after she was pictured kissing her former dance partner Seann Walsh during a night out in London.

The BBC star revealed that Neil was well aware of her new book, Beyond Lockdown Empire before she went ahead with the launch, as the pair regularly stay in touch with each other.

“Yes, we’ve been talking about it. He’s been following all the way through and I’ve been keeping him informed. It’s really nice,” Katya explained.

Speaking about their relationship now, the performer continued: “We’re like best friends really.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
