Loose Womens Linda Robson opens up on TV show she was warned would end her career

Loose Women's Linda Robson has opened up about the TV show she was warned not to do over fears it would ruin her career.

Linda, who has worked in showbiz for 50 years, says she was told by her agent that after the controversial show would be 'probably never work again.'

The 65-year-old, who became well known for playing Tracey Stubbs in the sitcom Birds of a Feather, now appears as a weekly pannist on the ITV daytime show alongside other TV favourites including Stacey Solomon, Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan and Denise Welch.

Opening up to The Sun on one of her lesser known TV ventures she filmed in 2018, Gone to Pot, Linda said she was told: "You'll probably never work again".

She was one of the five celebrities who took part in the ITV series back in 2017, joining EastEnders star Pam St Clement, actor Christopher Biggins, sports star John Fashanu and darts plater Bobby George.

The show followed the stars as they toured America on a psychedelic tour bus to see how cannabis is being used in the States for medical and recreational purposes.

Despite Linda and her co-stars being filmed trying out cannabis in different forms, the show was a huge success with viewers and critics alike.

But it wasn't always going to go that way. In an interview she told the paper: "My agent thought it was [risky] when I was asked to do Gone to Pot. She said 'I don't think you should do it. You're a daytime face on television, you'll probably never work again'.

"But I said, 'The series I'm doing is for ITV, I do most of my work for ITV anyway, so I don't see how it can hurt in any way'."

She explained how she also asked her children Louis, Roberta and Lauren what they thought of the idea of the show. Luckily they agreed that the concept was a good idea and told her, 'We think you're the coolest mum in the world'.

Since filming the show, Linda's teamed up with medical cannabis brand Releaf to try and reduce the stigma around the drug.
