Love Island love-birds Sophie Piper and Connor Durman have reportedly split after six months together.

The pair met on the winter version of the show, which was filmed in South Africa, and started dating after they were both dumped from the villa.

But the restrictions of lockdown, that started in March, seemed to put pay to their fledgling relationship.

A source told The Sun: “Things just fizzled out. They never even went official.

“It just didn’t have a chance to get started because of lockdown and they both agreed it was better to just stay friends.”

Connor, 25, lasted 15 days in the villa before he was told to pack his bags, while Sophie, 21, made it to day 22.

Before the coronavirus crisis hit former coffee bean salesman Connor and Rochelle Humes’ sister were said to have held “crisis talks” on how to fix things in the relationship in a bid to make things work.

At the time a source revealed: “Connor and Sophie spent the night together at a hotel in London on Monday where they discussed the future of their relationship.

"They’ve both found it hard since coming out of the villa and are keen to keep things private while they figure out what direction things are going in.

The insider added to the Sun: ”Connor has been finding the fame game difficult and is now planning to turn his back on it and throw himself into his coffee business."

The news comes just days after Connor addressed rumours that he and Sophie had split after not being seen together for weeks.

He explained: “It's going really well. We've not been on social media together, but we're still meeting up all the time.

"We're just keeping things quiet at the moment. We're both happy with how things are going.

Connor added: ”It's so intense in the villa, it's nice to do things naturally in the real world when you're out.

"We want to go nice and slowly and not jump ahead.”

However, Connor later hinted that he would like to take things a step further and move in with Sophie.

He explained: "We're about an hour-and-a-half drive away but meet up every week and chat on the phone every day.

"We haven't had the 'exclusive' chat, but I'm not chatting to anyone else and I'm pretty sure she's not.

"We are kind of exclusive, but haven't had the chat officially. We are both really into each other and aren't talking to anyone else."
