Max George, 32, revealed he has been placed on an intimacy ban with other contestants on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, amid coronavirus social distancing regulations. The singer admitted that those taking part in this year’s series get shouted at if they start to “approach” someone less than two metres away.

Each couple on the show has been placed together in a support bubble, which only allows them to dance and work closely together.

However, close interaction with other members on the programme is explicitly forbidden.

Max divulged: “If you start approaching someone, you get shouted at.

“Someone will yell, ‘Two metres!’

“So they’re on top of it,” he added to Radio Times Magazine.

If any of the contestants do test positive on the programme, they will be asked to leave immediately.

Max is paired up this year with pro dancer Dianne Buswell, 31, and the couple has already received the backing of former Strictly professional James Jordan to win the contest.

James admitted to betting agency Ladbrokes: ”Max is the most likeable person and in my opinion the best looking couple which always helps.

“He doesn’t look like a natural but I bloody love them together.

“One of those couples I would vote for even if they were bad.”

Max has previously had some performing experience as a member of popular boyband The Wanted, who were active from 2009 to 2014.

While with the band, he scored two UK number one hits with All Time Low and Glad You Came.

Since the band went on a break, Max has embarked on a solo career and released his first single Barcelona in 2018.

He has also had a cameo as Clint in popular TV musical drama Glee.

On being confirmed as part of this year’s line-up, Max said he was excited and made a reference to his fellow boyband member Jay McGuinness, who won on the programme.

Max admitted: “Buzzing to be on Strictly this year.

“Not really one for the dance floor, but I take a lot of comfort in the fact that Jay McGuiness set The Wanted’s bar so low.”

Meanwhile, Max’s gran recorded a short message for him after hearing of his participation that “made his year”.

Strictly airs on BBC One Saturday at 7.25 pm.
