Sky News sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao reveals the cancerous lump found in her breast has shrunk to half its size after she was diagnosed for a second time
Jacquie Beltrao has said that a cancerous lump in her breast has shrunk to half its original size.
The Sky News sports presenter was recently diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time after doctors first told her she had the condition in 2013.
She told Hello! magazine that ‘neither my doctors nor I could believe’ how much the growth had shrunk by, adding: ‘I was stunned and so relieved.

‘I was told that even if the tumour inside my breast had remained the same size, that would be a good result. But to find it had shrunk was unheard of.’
The former Olympic gymnast said she ‘didn’t realise’ breast cancer could return. ‘Facing it again felt like a kick in the stomach,’ she added.
‘When I was told it was incurable, I burst into tears and thought, ‘That’s it, I’m going to die’.
‘I felt so sad that I’d never go to my daughter’s wedding, see my sons graduate, or become a grandma.’

She added that while she is ‘not out of the woods yet’ doctors have told her it is ‘possible to keep the cancer under control’.
Jacquie is mother to sons Tiago, 19, and Jorge, 17, and daughter Amelia, 21, with her Brazilian-born husband Eduardo.
Last month she shared videos documenting her latest chemotherapy sessions and described herself as a ‘chemo warrior’.
The former Olympic gymnast told fans in July that her cancer had come back in a ‘much nastier’ form nearly seven years on from her first diagnosis, after she found a ‘tiny lump’ during lockdown.

Posing in the cold cap, Jacquie posted the images to her Instagram stories, telling followers ‘Unattractive as the look is it does get you head down to -5 and protects the hair from the chem’
In a video posted to her Instagram account, Jacquie was seen wearing a cold cap to protect her hair from chemotherapy.

Describing her latest battle with the disease, she used a film analogy, saying: ‘(sequels are never as good) (except Toy Story 2) (I’m still on drugs this may have come out in Dutch who knows THANKS for all messages of support the nurses loved them too.’
Speaking in a video posted to Twitter where she revealed her diagnosis, Beltrao said: ‘So, during lockdown I took my own advice, did a check, found a tiny, tiny, little lump just here.
‘Had it checked out and a biopsy straight away and it turns out it’s grade three breast cancer, much nastier than the first one I had.
‘I’m sharing this because it felt weird to be going back to work on Sky and being on social media and acting like everything was shiny, perfect and fun when it wasn’t.’
