Ali Wong, or Alexandra Dawn Wong, was raised in Pacific Heights in a San Francisco neighborhood with a panoramic view of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco Bay, the Palace of Fine Arts, Alcatraz, and the Presidio. Ali was born on April 19, 1982, the youngest of the four children of her Chinese-American father, Adolphus Wong, and her Vietnamese mother, Tam Wong.
