If England beat Croatia and Portugal beat Switzerland, then England, Croatia and Switzerland will be tied on three points each.

UEFA's tie-breaker in that situation looks at the head-to-head record between the three teams. Each team would have won one and lost two against the others.

Goal difference would next be used to split the teams. If England win by two goals on Wednesday, their GD in head-to-head games will be +1, Switzerland's will be 0, and Croatia's will be -1.

Croatia progress hopes depend on Switzerland v Portugal.

Win might not be enough, 1-goal loss could be OK.

England need two-goal win and Swiss to lose.

Welcome to our live blog of Croatia u21s v England u21s

Aidy Boothroyd’s side clash with the Croatians, in the last game of their European Under-21 Championship group stage campaign today in Slovenia.

The Young Lions have had a disappointing tournament so far after losing their opening two games.

Croatia will be looking to seal their qualification to the knockout stages with another win after beating Switzerland 3-2 on Sunday, however England could still progress with a dominant score line.

England have been dealt a double blow as Callum Hudson-Odoi has returned to Chelsea due to a shoulder injury, and Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe is also a doubt due to fitness concerns.

Eddie Nketiah will lead the line at the Bonifika stadium, having recently broken the scoring record with 16 goals for the Under-21s.

The Croatians are expected to start Dario Vizinger as a lone striker after he scored in their 3-2 win on Sunday.

The Wolfsberger forward will be supported by midfielder Nikola Moro who also netted in that crucial victory over the Swiss.

Goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski is expected to continue in goal after he replaced Adrian Semper, who was dropped after their defeat to Portugal in their opening game.
