When Phoebe Buffay wasn't singing Smelly Cat or having a weird sibling rivalry with twin Ursula on Friends, she was wowing us with her hilarious charm on the sitcom.

The popular character is played by actress Lisa Kudrow, who has gone on to have a little more success than Phoebe did with her singing career.

Lisa, 57, has starred in the likes of P.S. I Love You, Dr. Dolittle 2, Hotel For Dogs and The Girl On The Train, and as well as having a successful career, Lisa’s romantic life has also been a triumph.

Lisa has been married to French advertising executive Michel Stern since 1995 and they share 23 year old son Julian Murray Stern together, who recently graduated.

Let’s take a look at what we know about Lisa’s husband Michel…

Who is Lisa Kudrow’s husband Michel Stern?

Lisa met her husband Michel in the 90s and at the time she was living with her French roommate who was dating him at the time.

According to the Daily Mail, Lisa’s attraction to Michel was instant and she said: “I was living with a French girl and he had just moved here and they were dating when we first met. But I'm freakishly polite, so I saw him and went, 'Well, he's the perfect man and it's all ruined because now they're together and I can't (make a play for him).’”

Lisa added: “I thought that that's not nice to flirt. But the minute I saw him I went, 'Well, that's it, there he is.’

“I was so afraid anyone would see that I liked him, so when he'd come to pick her up, he'd say, 'Oh, hello Lisa,' and I'd say, 'Hi,' and I'd go and leave the room and he thought I was a freak.”

Michel’s relationship with Lisa’s roommate ended two and a half months later and six years later, after not having seen each other, they met again and started a friendship.

Lisa and Michel started dating after five years together and they tied the knot on 27 May, 1995 and they’ve been together ever since.

What the cast of Friends are doing now as actor behind Chandler Bing gets engaged

Lisa spoke about her marriage in an interview with Glamour Magazine and said: “When [Michel and I] decided to get married, we understood: We're not promising to love each other forever, because you can't do that, but we are promising to work on whatever problems come up.

“We're committed to our marriage working. It turns out after you have a history, there's such a bond, and love takes another shape. But, oh, I don't want to jinx it—I'm superstitious!

Lisa has also spoken out about maintaining independence while married, and she said: “[Michel and I] respect each other's independence, and I don't mean that as a euphemism.

“I don't mean relationship-wise outside the marriage. Clear? But I don't like to travel. So if he wants to go on a golf trip, he goes. I think people get in trouble [when they assume they're] supposed to be one unit, in sync about everything. [Marriage] is like being on a team. Each teammate is different, but you have the same goal.”
