Kate Middleton ‘breaks royal tradition’ to give children normal life despite ‘privilege’

Prince George and Louis’ ‘adorable’ message praised by experts

Kate Middleton and Prince William are the parents of three children. A parenting expert shares some of the “non-traditional” parenting techniques they have used.

The Cambridges are the parents of Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two.

Kate has been open about her experiences with parenting since becoming a mother.

She will sometimes share videos and snaps of the family which she has taken at home.

The young royals have also made rare appearances at events such as Trooping the Colour and the Royal Family Christmas Day church service.

There are some royal parenting traditions which have often been followed in the past, such as official photo calls and hiring a nanny.

While Kate and Prince William sometimes do what has been done before, parenting expert and managing director at Kiddies Kingdom Mohammed Patel explained how their parenting style is different.

He claimed the royals are happy to be publicly affectionate with their children which is rarely done.

The expert told Express.co.uk: “In the past it would be unheard of for a royal parent to kneel down to their child at a public engagement, but showing this kind of affection to her three children has become the norm for Kate.

“When one of her children becomes distressed or upset in public, her calm and relaxed nature becomes apparent as she only has to crouch by their side to reassure them.

“As her children grow up, it’s likely Kate will treat them as equals and not tower over them as a figure to be feared.

“This is a less-traditional parenting style that would not have been used by previous royals, demonstrating how Kate is breaking the norm and paving the way for a new type of royalty.”

By doing this, the mother-of-three could be trying to give the young royals as normal an upbringing as possible.

“Kate’s modern style of parenting is unique,” Mohammed continued.

“She strives to teach her children the importance of ‘normal life’ and refrains from overindulging them, despite clearly coming from a privileged background.

“She is moving away from royal traditions, creating her own style that is in line with both her own values and today’s society.

“Above all, Kate is a mother we can relate to. She is raising her children to be respectful, but most importantly, happy and loved.”

While Kate will take advantage of nannies and is sure to have parenting experts on hand, she is often commended for her “normal” parenting style.

The expert continued: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are the future of UK royalty and one of the nations most beloved family units.

“Since giving birth to their first son, George in 2013, Kate has been praised for her relaxed and ‘regular’ parenting style.

“It is arguably since becoming a mum, that she has stolen the nation’s hearts.”
