The best last-minute holidays deals to Greece as bookings spike during weekly travel corridor announcement
GREECE is one of the few destinations still open to Brits for a quarantine-free holiday, with Crete added to the travel corridor list in yesterday's announcement.
New data has revealed that holiday bookings spike during the weekly air bridge announcements by the UK government, as families opt for a last-minute holiday which is on the safe list.
According to the newly relaunched Thomas Cook, traffic increased by 87 per cent between 9pm and 10pm on the day of the announcement, compared to the same time on other days during the week.
Thomas Cook head of commercial product Emma King said: “The new lockdown restrictions and tiering system introduced this week has been difficult for many. After a tumultuous year, it’s no wonder people are dreaming of sandy beaches and blue skies.
“Brits are now browsing online holidays right throughout the day as people’s routines shift and many find themselves working from home.
“People are clearly keeping an eye on the latest travel announcements, with over 21% of all weekly visitors searching for holidays on Thursdays."

In response, Thomas Cook and Jet2 have launched more holidays to Crete, while other bargains to the islands can be found with TUI and easyJet.
TUI has added thousands of holidays to the Greek islands due to increased demand, such as Zante, Rhodes and Kos, while Jet2 is increasing their flight routes from the UK to Rhodes.
Crete was added to the safe list last night, with just Mykonos remaining on the quarantine list for England, Wales and Scotland.
