A Place in the Sun guests halt viewing of expensive £205,000 property

A Place in the Sun got a bit awkward for presenter Danni Menzies when she took a "risk" and it didn't pay off – with the guests stopping a viewing right in the middle.

In today's episode of the Channel 4 show (April 28) the property expert was trying to find a holiday home in Spain that could become the dream location to retire to for Derek and Jane.

The couple, from Lancashire, were looking to buy in Chiclana de la Frontera and had a budget of £220,000.

Danni was confident she could deliver but hit a few snags when she took them around her five chosen properties.

First up was a four-bed villa in Los Gallos on the market for £209,000.

The villa had a Mediterranean garden and a courtyard area at the front, a pool and a lawn at the back, as well as an alfresco dining and kitchen to the side.

Despite its pretty outside spaces and roomy interior, the couple ruled it out.

They also weren't completely happy with the second property which was a three-bed villa in North Chiclana priced at an affordable £144,545.

Next, Danii showed them around a three-bed villa in La Barrosa Beach which was on the market for £204,545 – a good deal considering it was just five minutes from the blue flag beach.

"It’s quite a good price for the location," Danii told them as they looked around.

Unfortunately, Derek hated the floor and said his wife would need to get her "overalls" on if the house was to be decorated to their standards.

"It feels like there could be too much work and it’s the upper end of the budget," Jane said.

Danni seemed to sense the couple were really not happy and checked: "Do you want to see more of this one or you just not getting the feeling for it?

Like what you see? Then fill your boots…

Jane said: "Personally Derek, I don’t."

Derek confirmed he and his wife would not be looking at any more of the property, and they left Danni in the courtyard.

She said: "It was a bit of a risk and it didn’t pay off."

Luckily, after property four was another disappointment, Danni won them over with the fifth and final one: a three-bed villa in Conil de la Frontera valued at £222,727

It was right at the top of their budget but Derek and Jane were thrilled when the vendor accepted an offer of £200,000.
