Chas and Paddy's tragedy as he goes missing in sad Emmerdale scenes
After the Emmerdale villagers learnt that Chloe Harris’ (Jessie Elland) baby was in hospital with meningitis this week, it reminded Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) of the short period of time they spent with their new-born, Grace.
Grace was born in October 2018 after Chas learned in February of that year that she was pregnant, after forgetting about her contraceptive injection.
However, she tragically died soon after she was born, living for just 29 minutes after Chas and Paddy were told that Grace had a condition called Bilaterial Renal Agenesis – which meant her kidneys and bladder had failed to develop.
In Friday’s (May 5) edition of the ITV soap, Bear (Joshua Richards) was concerned when he spotted Paddy on the sofa so early on in the morning.
Paddy told his dad that he had just got up quietly, but Bear couldn’t help but wonder whether he had been there all night.
After sorting out more details for the divorce, Paddy and Chas had been texting, and were also supporting each other after learning about baby Reuben.
Ultimately though, Paddy wasn’t completely open about his emotions and decided to take himself away from the village – something that soon caused his friends and family to worry.
As Rhona (Zoe Henry) realised that Paddy was missing again, she gathered outside the pub with Marlon (Mark Charnock), Chas, Mandy (Lisa Riley) and Bear.
Concern was growing, given that the last time Paddy disappeared, Marlon and Chas found him contemplating ending his life.
Fortunately, Paddy hadn’t reached a crisis point as he called Chas, revealing that he was sat by Grace’s tree.
The former couple spoke about their grief and how it resurfaces sometimes because of the smallest of things, like seeing something on the television or hearing a song on the radio.
