Coronation Street fans work out Amy Barlow love interest twist

Coronation Street: Aaron kisses Amy as she drunkenly passes out

Coronation Street fans fear there’s more trouble ahead for Amy Barlow after she agreed to go on a date with Ezra, who they believe he could be linked to rapist Aaron Sandford.

As Amy decided it was time to make positive steps and move on, fans expressed their concern on Twitter, with user @deanobeanos commenting: “This lad texting Amy is going to be one of Aaron’s friends ain’t he.”

Amy (played by Elle Mulvany) has been struggling to move on from her rape and is set to face a legal battle when she posts about her ordeal with Aaron (James Craven).

It’s no surprise then that fans believe Aaron has enlisted Ezra to take revenge as Claire Enry penned: “Not sure if I trust this Ezra guy? He’s gonna be Aaron’s friend or something…”

Ryan Glendenning added: “Amy is going on a date – I hope she isn’t going into this too quickly, especially after her recent panic attack.”

Another viewer said: “Oh dear. Aaron is on the phone with the guy Amy was texting. Predictable”.

@SoapGlory theorised: “Either that’s Aaron on the end of the phone… or this Ezras guy is bad news! Maybe a friend of Aaron’s doing his revenge work.” (sic)

Dave Mitus expressed: “Not feeling too confident for Amy! After her recent panic attack I don’t think the date is a good idea.” (sic)

But it’s just not fans who are concerned about Amy.

She told her friend and Aaron’s former girlfriend Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) she had met a new boy called Ezra.

Summer asked: “Good looking is he?” to which Amy immediately confirmed: “Yeah! Drop dead good-looking, and he’s clever and he’s funny. I am offering to buy him lunch, [and] he said yes!”

Aadi and Summer began to worry about how forward Amy was being with the new love interest.

Later in the episode, Summer asked Amy if Ezra had any good-looking friends that they could hook her up with.

But Summer soon noticed Amy began to look worried when she expressed: “What if I’m never ready?”

Is Amy rushing into something that she is not ready for? Will this cause more trauma for her in the future?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
