James ‘Arg’ Argent could be about to follow in his girlfriend Gemma Collins’ footsteps after it was reported he is in talks to join the 2021 series of Dancing on Ice. ITV fans are currently hoping the show will still go ahead due to the current lockdown restrictions, but they are feeling confident things might be different come January next year.

Fans are desperately hoping that ITV bosses are putting in the hard work to get the 2021 series up and running after a number of shows were cancelled this year due to the coronavirus.

Strictly Come Dancing, for example, on BBC will run for a shorter time than normal as bosses confirmed the show will go ahead despite the pandemic.

With fans hopes being raised though, they now want to know who will be taking part in the latest series of their favourite shows.

Back in 2019, The Only Way Is Essex reality star Gemma Collins took part in Dancing on Ice dancing with professional skater Matt Evers.

Gemma had a number of hiccups on the show, with her most unfortunate moment being when she took a big tumble on the ice during the live shows.

She also wasn’t afraid to tell the judges what she really thought about their comments.

However, it’s now been reported that her on-off boyfriend James is in talks with Dancing on Ice bosses about taking part.

A source told The Sun: “Dancing On Ice bosses are interested in Arg, he’s a lovely bloke and is a popular guy.

“They think he shows real potential but obviously he needs to prove he’s serious about taking part.

“His issues with drug use in the past have been well documented and there has been talk of him having to have drug tests if he signs up to the show to prove he is clean.

“He has told close friends about Dancing On Ice and said he’d love to get out and try it.

“Arg knows it’s not an easy show to take part in but he’s more than willing to give it a go.”

The question is, would he be able to do better than Gemma, who left a few weeks after the show began.

Elsewhere on Dancing on Ice, last week it was announced that professional dancer Alex Murphy would not be taking part in the 2021 series.

Alex danced with Joe Swash in the 2020 series and the two won the entire competition, so fans were baffled by ITV’s decision.

An ITV spokesperson said:  “Each series the Dancing On Ice team looks at our existing lineup and explores opportunities to potentially introduce some new faces to the skating professional team.

But could James Argent be the first celebrity to have signed up? And who else will follow in his footsteps?

Express.co.uk has contacted ITV for comment.

Dancing on Ice is set to continue on ITV next year.
