ITV viewers switch off This Morning over endless royal coverage

Holly and Phil return to This Morning

The complaints flooded in on Tuesday and Wednesday as the ITV magazine show focused most of its segments on the May 6 Coronation.

Recent This Morning episodes have seen endless coverage of the royal event, with the cooking sections devoted to King Charles’s favourite food.

Presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield kept expressing their excitement for the occasion as they talked all things royal in a studio decorated with bunting and Coronation memorabilia.

This trend carried on into Wednesday’s show, with the programme opening with discussions about Prince Harry’s appearance at the celebration.

Journalist Omid Scobie shared the latest updates on the Duke’s presence at the ceremony but it didn’t take long for those tuned in to express their exhaustion over all things royal.

Tuesday saw chef Clodagh McKenna focusing her efforts on creating cheesy baked eggs because the dish is apparently one of the monarch’s favourites.

Throughout the instalment, she was talking about what the meal consisted of before cooking it herself for the others to sample.

Royal photographer Chris Jackson also made an appearance to discuss the iconic moments from the Royal Family he has managed to snap through the years.

Many fans were soon bored of the topic though and took to social media to fume about the ongoing coverage.
