Jeopardy! fans share 'jarring' theory on why host Mayim Bialik is 'slow as a slug' when confirming contestants' answers | The Sun
JEOPARDY! fans have blasted host Mayim Bialik for often taking a long time to confirm whether or not contestants answered correctly.
Now, some viewers have come up with a theory behind why she’s so “slow” when it comes to her responses.
While the permanent hosting slot is still up in the air, Mayim has been hosting Jeopardy for the fifth week in a row, while Ken Jennings is still on break.
The decision for who will get the job will likely be decided by the end of Season 38 in July, but, until then, fans have continued to share their concerns about Mayim possibly getting in.
On Reddit, some are upset that the Big Bang Theory alum often seems to take quite a while to let players know if they answered correctly or not.
The original poster on a thread wrote: “I am sure that this topic has been beaten into submission many times over.

“If it has I apologize.
“Has anyone else noticed how slow Mayim is to confirm correct responses?”
They added that it feels so “jarring” when it happens.
“I have noticed that it has contestants offering new or refined answers as they wait,” the user pointed out. “Am I biased, or does this not happen when Ken is hosting?”

Another annoyed Jeopardy! fan agreed, commenting: “I have noticed this, too!”
That’s when a third user hopped in to offer a theory on why this might be happening on the show.
“It seems that in order to prevent possible mistakes and reshoots, Mayim gets rulings from the judges before communicating them, rather than making them on her own,” the viewer suggested.
They added: “This sometimes results in a slight delay before the rulings are delivered.
“Ken, as a producer on the show and an all-time trivia great, appears to have more leeway to make rulings.”
Along with being upset with how quickly she responds to players' answers, fans also slammed the host for sharing clues from a "made up" category.
During Tuesday's episode, she presented ones that had all of the contestants scratching their heads.
The category was titled "Texting Abbreviations," but the slang terms fans seem to be expecting were nowhere in sight.
The first one read, "Talk to you tomorrow, I'm 'OTB'."
Mayim read another, "FC is this hopeful condition."
When no player buzzed in and all three looked confused, she broke the silence with a cheery, "Finger's crossed!"
A third read: "I've Got To Know, 'PTMM'".
"Please tell me more!" Mayim exclaimed as again no one on-stage replied and the audience laughed nervously.
Over on Twitter, fans didn't abbreviate their anger over one of the lowest-scoring sections in recent memory – and felt that no one texted like that.
