Martin Lewis to replace Piers Morgan on GMB as money expert joins Susanna Reid

Daily Star’s Inside Hot TV newsletter sees Ed Gleave send you telly’s hot takes straight to your inbox every Sunday

Martin Lewis is set to fill Piers Morgan's vacant seat on Good Morning Britain later this month.

The money-saving expert said he is "stoked" about his new role, which will see him join Susanna Reid for a three-day stint between June 28 and June 30.

However, according to The Mirror, if all goes well, ITV bosses may look to give him a longer run.

Since Piers quit the show earlier this year, channel bosses have had his seat filled on a rotating basis, with names such as Adil Ray and Richard Madeley filling in, rather than look for a permanent replacement.

Speaking of joining Good Morning Britain's hosting line-up, Martin, 49, said: "For 15 years I loved answering questions on Good Morning Britain, now I’m stoked about getting the chance to ask them.

“While I hope to set the agenda on key consumer issues like scams and the financially excluded, I’m also up for the challenge of spreading my wings on all subjects. And when it comes to holding power to account, I always play fair with a straight bat but that doesn’t stop me swinging it hard.”

The show's editor Neil Thompson said: "Trust has been and continues to be hugely important throughout the pandemic, and I can’t think of many people more trustworthy than Martin Lewis.

“Our viewers rely upon us to deliver the very best breaking news, debates and entertainment into their homes each morning, and they will no doubt welcome seeing Martin – a journalist and broadcaster at the top of his game – sitting at the GMB desk this June.”

Other guest presenters have included former Labour spin doctor Alastair Campbell and Susanna's former BBC Breakfast co-star Bill Turnbull.

Meanwhile, Richard Madeley and Adil Ray have been sharing hosting duties since Piers quit the show after refusing to apologise for his on-screen comments following Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview.

Since, Piers has made a number of television appearances and given his own bombshell interviews in the US and Australia.

Speculation has been rife that he is set to join the newly launched GB News, while he has been making subtle suggestions that he will return to Good Morning Britain – though nothing official has yet been announced.
