Mr. Perfectly Fine – What are the lyrics to Taylor Swift's song?

MEGA star Taylor Swift shocked fans on social media with an early release of a song “from the vault” of the new Fearless re-recording.

The musician has been working to re-record all of her studio albums after releasing two new ones during the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr. Perfectly Fine – What are the lyrics to Taylor Swift's song?

Taylor Swift released a special single “from the vault” of her stash of secret songs on April 7, 2021.

The song, titled, Mr. Perfectly Fine, was set to be released on April 9 with the new re-recording of Fearless (Taylor’s Version).

Fans were quick to post the lyrics on various music sites like Genius while attempting to decipher the meaning behind the tune.

The song starts off saying: “Mr. ‘Perfect face,’ Mr. ‘Here to stay,’ Mr. ‘Looked me in the eye and told me you would never go away.’ Everything was right, Mr. ‘I've been waiting for you all my life’. Mr. ‘Every single day until the end, I will be by your side.’

“But that was when I got to know Mr. ‘Change of heart’. Mr. ‘Leaves me all alone,’ I fall apart. It takes everything in me just to get up each day, but it's wonderful to see that you're okay.

“Hello Mr. ‘Perfectly fine’ how's your heart after breaking mine? Mr. ‘Always at the right place at the right time,’ baby. Hello Mr. ‘Casually cruel,’ Mr. ‘Everything revolves around you.’ I've been Miss ‘Misery’ since your goodbye, and you're Mr. ‘Perfectly fine.’”

The song was produced by Taylor and longtime pal and collaborator Jack Antonoff.

Who is Mr. Perfectly Fine about?

Fans of Taylor believe the song to be about Joe Jonas or Jake Gyllenhaal, two celebrities which she dated back in 2008 and 2012.

Her fans pointed out that the “change of heart” line could be a reference to Joe after she called him out during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

At the time, Taylor claimed that she would not “remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds.”

Joe fired back after hearing Taylor’s comments and addressed them on MySpace, saying: “For those who have expressed concern over the ’27 second’ phone call, I called to discuss feelings with the other person.

“Those feelings were obviously not well received. I did not end the conversation. Someone else did.

“Phone calls can only last as long as the person on the other end of the line is willing to talk. Anytime you are in a relationship for any length of time there are going to be issues.”

Adding: “Sometimes they resolve, other times they lead to a change of heart; this was the case recently.”

A post shared on Instagram by Joe’s wife, Sophie Turner, following the release of Taylor’s song fueled the rumors about the song being about him.

Sophie posted a screenshot of the song and wrote: “It’s not NOT a bop,” to which Taylor replied: “forever bending the knee for the queen of the north.”

However, others were leaning more towards the song being about Jake, who Taylor seemingly referenced as “casually cruel” in her track All Too Well from the 2012 Red album.

The couple dated in the fall of 2010 and in All Too Well she wrote: “You call me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest.”
