Neighbours’ Dipi and Shane divorce ‘sealed’ as Pierce affair leads to heartbreak
Neighbours ’' Shane Rebecchi (Nicholas Coghlan) is set to have his heart broken as he finds out that his wife Dipi (Sharon Johal) has been having an affair with Pierce Grayson (Don Hany).
The couple, who have been together for over 20 years, hit a rocky patch after Shane admitted he was secretly addicted to drugs and had been hiding it from her for months.
Dipi stood by him and helped him seek treatment, but as she used Pierce as a shoulder to cry on, it didn't take long for a steamy affair to start, and the pair soon developed feelings for each other.
Despite the pair trying their best to keep their affair secret, it is set to finally be exposed as Nicolette Stone sabotaged Pierce and ensured they were caught out.
But as Dipi finally comes clean about the affair, it looks like she doesn't want to be forgiven, as she has discovered that she has fallen in love with Pierce.
As her devastating secret threatens to rip the pair apart, could this be the end for one of Neighbours' longest standing couples?
Teasing Shane and Dipi's split, Nicholas told Daily Star: 'He goes into denial, he doesn’t understand it and he can’t get it into his head about what has happened.
"It is devastating but these kinds of admissions from Dipi, he doesn’t quite get that she is a separate entity that wants what she wants, and has wants that are different to his.
"She no longer has the power or the willingness to support him, as she doesn't have the capacity, whereas someone like Toadie does.
"The problem is the dependency he has on Dipi, and one of the reasons she has gone off with Pierce is because Shane doesn't see her as an individual like Pierce does."
Nicholas also hinted that Shane could relapse later down the line as he faces the idea of life without Dipi, as he said Shane wouldn't cope well with being alone.
He added: "He could absolutely relapse, not only is all this news enough to push him over the edge but also the idea of being on his own which is the worst thing he can think of
"That’s a horror story as far as Shane is concerned, he couldn't cope with that."
Whilst Shane seems keen to try and make their marriage work, it seems that Dipi wants to end things for good and be with Pierce.
Is this the end for Shane and Dipi for good?
Neighbours continues on Monday at 1pm on Channel 5.
