Simon Cowell plans Britain’s Got Talent ‘return’ despite breaking his back

Simon Cowell is preparing to return to filming, just weeks after breaking his back at his Malibu home.

The music mogul, 60, fell off his new Swind E8-01 electric bike which resulted in him breaking his back in three places before undergoing intensive surgery.

Despite recuperating at his Malibu mansion with girlfriend Lauren Silverman, their son Eric, six, and Lauren's son, Adam, 14, Simon is preparing to get back into the swing of work.

The Britain's Got Talen t executive is reportedly set to film a one-off special in October – featuring some of the best acts who have appeared on the show.

Simon, will once again sit alongside Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams at the pre-filmed recording which is said to be taking place in London.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: "Simon is a total workaholic and even an accident as nasty as his won't keep him off for long. He’s been working from his home in Los Angeles since the accident happened and is in contact with his team.

"The plans for this one-off special of Britain's Got Talent have been in the pipeline for months and he is convinced he will be well enough to take his place on the panel."

The insider went on to add: "The show will feature some of the best talent from the start of the series in 2007.

"Simon has been told to take it easy but he much prefers to be busy. Plus he loves working on BGT, so for him, it's something to look forward to."

Cowell was forced to axe all work commitments following his accident.

He was scheduled to appear on America's Got Talent for the final week but former American Idol champ Kelly Clarkson was forced to step into his shoes.
