Is Yasmeen going to prison in Coronation Street?

Corrie are yet to confirm whether Yasmeen will be convicted for Geoff's attempted murder and put behind bars.

But things don't looking great for the poor chef as she will struggle to get everyone to believe the abuse she has been suffering at the hands of her husband.

But Yasmeen’s granddaughter Alya – who has been begging her to leave the abuser for weeks – will undoubtedly be on her side.

Fans will also remember that Yasmeen opened up to Eileen about Geoff trapping her in his magic box at the start of the year.

And Cathy witnessed Geoff abusing Yasmeen when he yelled at her for spending too long at the shops – without realising Cathy was still in the house and listening.

But whether any of their accounts will be enough to prove Yasmeen's innocence remains to be seen, and fans will have to tune in to find out whether the chef can prove she was acting in self-defence.

Why does Yasmeen bottle Geoff in Coronation Street?

Viewers know that Geoff’s coercive control has steadily been getting worse as he’s stripped Yasmeen off all her self-esteem and alienated her from her friends and family.

Spoilers have revealed that Geoff will begin to realise he’s losing control of Yasmeen next week and ramp up his abuse by starving her and controlling her every move.

Viewers watched Yasmeen begin her preparations to escape as she packed a bag and hid it in a cupboard in the house.

But little does Yasmeen know that Geoff was watching her every move from the secret cameras he’s installed.

Yasmeen is also set to irritate her husband next week by confronting him about the escorts he's been sleeping with when Dr Gaddas informs her she has chlamydia .

But Geoff doesn't like being questioned and launches at Yasmeen with a huge knife, leaving Yasmeen cowering in the corner.

Yasmeen picks up a wine bottle to defend herself and hits him, slashing his neck with the broken shards of glass.

Yasmeen then stares in shock at Geoff as he keels over on the floor with blood pouring from his neck, before ringing 999 and telling the operator that her husband is dead.

What has Shelley King said about the attack in Corrie?

Discussing the moment Yasmeen lashes out at Geoff with the wine bottle, Shelley King said: "He has a bottle of wine on the table and food, he doesn't offer her anything. All she wants is to eat something and hug him.

"She wants him to forgive her. She is not thinking coherently, she hasn’t eaten for two and a half days properly.

"What she does is react like a wounded cornered animal she just wants it all to stop, she defends herself she doesn't attack him but it is him who ends up bleeding on the kitchen floor."

Shelley added that these were the toughest scenes she has had to film during the coercive control storyline: "There have been many very difficult scenes throughout this storyline but just the technical aspect of a scene like this means that something you see that just plays out for three minutes might take the whole day to film.

"During that time you have to concentrate and stay in the moment. Ian and I are very close, we are great friends and we understand each other.

"During the day and a half that we concentrated on the portrayal of that horror we had to keep in the moment, barely talking outside the scene.

"It was also a closed set. You have to contact so many things in yourself, when you have three minutes filmed over a day and half you have no recovery time and you can't afford to joke and laugh. Every single person on set understood and were amazing and were concentrating on making those moments happen."

What do fans think about Yasmeen’s attempted murder charge?

Viewers are furious that Yasmeen is going to be charged with attempted murder, and are rooting for her to get the justice she deserves and escape a life behind bars.

One fan tweeted: "Can't wait for this next week! Hope Yasmeen doen't go to prison for hurting Geoff. He's been controlling her and bullying her for months #Corrie."

Another added: "I just hope Yasmeen doesn’t end up going to prison for anything."

A third said: "How about we have a better story where Yasmeen dumps his ass and exposes him for the nasty piece of work he really is, please?"
