Coronavirus latest news: UK deaths reach 40,542 as arrivals into Britain must quarantine for 14 days from today

DEATH TOLL hit 40,542 as the UK remains second in most fatalities from the virus.

And from today, all arrivals into Britain must self-isolate for 14 days and inform authorities where they will be quarantining from coronavirus.

Those breaking the rules could face fines of up to £1,000 in England, while non-resident foreign nationals could be refused entry if they don't comply.

Secondary school students are also in danger of not returning to their classrooms full time until January 2021, wreaking havoc on GCSE and A-Level exams once again.
