Pakistan plane crash survivor recounts horrifying ordeal: ‘All I could see was fire’
A miracle survivor of a doomed Pakistani airliner which crashed, killing nearly 100 people aboard, was surrounded by fire and screams when he awoke, according to a report.
Muhammad Zubair lost consciousness when Pakistan International Airlines Airbus A320 came down, the BBC reported.
“I could hear screams from all directions. Kids and adults. All I could see was fire. I couldn’t see any people — just hear their screams,” Zubair said. “I opened my seatbelt and saw some light — I went towards the light. I had to jump down about 10 feet to get to safety.”
Seconds before the crash, the pilot told air traffic controllers he had lost power in both engines, Reuters reported.
Flight PK8303 carried 91 passengers — including many families traveling ahead of Sunday’s Eid al-Fitr holiday — and eight crew. It departed from Lahore.
The pilot was attempting to land at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport at about 2:30 p.m. local time when the plane came down.
Zubair had only minor injuries. He said the pilot attempted one landing before the plane crashed about 10 minutes later.
